Venerable Professors in Universities were asked to imagine that they had been diagnosed with a terminal disease and that they had to give to their students a "last lecture." Here they were expected to provide the listeners with all of their wisdom, knowldege, etc.

Well this guy, Randy Paush, was diagnosed with liver cancer, and he gave his "last lecture" for REAL. I have the book and I have not started reading it yet, but here is the video from you tube.
